[livejournal.com profile] yuletide  signups are ooopeeeennnnnnnn :D

Some people wait all year for NaNo, and while I'm doing it this year, I confess I'm doing rather poorly insofar as word count goes.  But word count is going up, so I suppose I can't bitch TOO much.  Not gonna hit the 50K word goal, however.  And I'm weirdly okay with that.

But [livejournal.com profile] yuletide .  That's different.  I've actually lost track of how many years I've participated, but I think this is my sixth year, and I am ridiculously excited to participate this year.  I haven't signed up yet, mainly because I like to wait for the MAD RUSH to subside a little.

SO!  Thinking about doing a yuletide friends-filter this year.  Who all's already signed up/gonna sign up?

SIGN UP.  YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.  OBSCURE FANDOMS ARE AWESOME.  :D  Over the course of the years, I've written Fruits Basket, Disney's Hercules, and four -- count 'em -- four, NO, WAIT.  FIVE. I've done five Dorothy Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey fics. The extra was a stocking stuffer for someone, I think.  Anyway.  Obscure fandoms.  You know you love 'em.

(I've also received some amazing fics.  Last year, in fact, I received a Jennifer Crusie Faking It fic, with strains of Welcome to Temptation, and it was MARVELOUS and lovely and oh god, I was smiling for hours afterward.)

Yeah, I like to wait and let the mods iron out all of the wrinkles first. ;)

Got it now. OMG, they have the Betsy-Tacy series up there. *eagerly signs up to write for that*

THAT WAS A VERY BAD DAY. (And, oh, I felt so stupid.)

Actual wisdom may or may not preclude participating in fandom exchanges. As always, your mileage may vary.

I've hit the 21k (ish) mark for NaNoWriMo and am hitting the soft wall of OH GOD MY STORY SUCKS SO VERY MUCH WHAT DO I WRITE NOW.

But I'm still managing to sit down and eek out 1000 to the goal of 1666, and it might be horrible but at least, I'm trying. I've been doing my best to focus on the scenes stuck in my head/the ones I seem to want to actually write instead of plodding along all linear from point a to point b. That's a bit of a help.

I'm not very good at finishing things. I'm very good at starting them, but never finishing. So I'm really trying to make it something I actually FINISH this year.

I'm not, because I'm all pissy that Mass Effect is on eligible but Dragon Age is not.

Yes, I realize this is petty. No, I'm not going to bug the mods about it because it's their call and I'm sure they had their reasons.

Still disgruntled, though. *grumpy face*

Yeah, that's a bummer, especially since it only had one year of eligibility, and I didn't know enough about the game TO write about it this time last year.

Truth be told, though, there are plenty of other things on the list I can get excited about, and after finishing AMWT, I am remarkably okay with the not-getting-to-write DAO. :)

Yeah, I'm willing to bet it had to do with the fact that we have a lot of AO3 advocates in our fandom, and I don't know if the Mass Effect crowd is as interested in posting there as we are.

Oh, and ps congrats on the monumental achievement of finishing AMWT! I don't think I took the time to say that before. What a fantastic creation!

I am, as probably evidenced by the GIANT CAPSLOCK GLEE I have been inflicting on my flist. I'm waiting for the first flood to be over, though, since the server keeps stalling on me.

I am irrationally terrified that I will forget to sign up, for some reason. :) I know this makes NO SENSE, and yet. And yet.

Mass Effect is eligible?

... Now I have to rethink my options, darn it.

Yeah, but you know, I have the same problem. Which is why I'm sitting here, up way too late, and trying to formulate my Dear Yule Goat letter instead of sleeping. I'm busy tomorrow and OBVIOUSLY this means I will FORGET and not remember on any of the five days that will be left to sign up after Sunday. XD
