W-Wild Kingdom?
Mar. 19th, 2008 10:36 amThere is a nature path I take when I walk the dogs. On the left hand side (if I am traveling east), there is a canal. On the right hand side, woods. I may have complained about it before, because the canal is also behind a neighborhood, and there are many houses with fenced-in yards and annoying, yappy little dogs that run out and bark like very tiny Cujos at us when we pass.
In the canal, I often see the occasional lone alligator. Never too big -- usually about 3 or 4 feet, for it is a small canal, and a six-footer would very likely go searching for deeper waters. K-kind of like the part of the canal behind our house. But I digress. During my walks, I usually see an alligator. An alligator, as in... one.
Today was the first day I saw two. One was about three feet, the other about four feet long. They were about a half-mile apart.
I was morbidly amused to note that one of them was camped out about two house-lengths away from a home with two Yorkshire terriers, one Pomeranian, and one... either Jack Russell or Rat Terrier (I'm not sure which).
I need to start taking my camera when I walk the dogs.
