You'd be surprised what some people will do to a dog. My sister, who's a dog groomer, helped find a client of hers' poodle a new home because -- you're really not going to believe this, but it's the God's honest truth -- she bought new furniture and the dog (who was white) no longer matched. (The furniture, by the way, was now black.) From what Sis told me, the lady was going to put the poor thing down until Sis told her she'd find it a new home. A few weeks later the lady called Sis and asked her to groom her new dog, a BLACK standard poodle.

That puppy is SO cute. I'm glad to hear that things worked out for you. It sounds like you found a really good breeder to work with.
