Okay, so PHPBB updated itself and overwrote the template that tells GT users to go to a specific URL and fill in a short essay on why they want to join the GT forums. It's basically used to gauge who'll be a fun, interesting addition to the community, while weeding out the rabid fangirls that are the bane of so many people's existence.

And... we've got a pretty good success rate, I'd say.

Anyway. PHPBB updated and we lost the template. So a lot of people went unactivated. I sent out a mass email, letting these folks know what they have to do. Usually the replies vary from "excellent" to "meh," with a few bad'uns in there for good measure.

So, I get an email back from this one user. I've gotten a few back, actually. Some of them with legitimate questions, and one saying that I could delete his profile, as he was joining the Army soon. But this one... oh, goodness.



I only have 1 problem...

Right. So... yeah. I don't know if that last bit was a sig line, or if that was her essay (emailed to me, as she's clearly having problems with the site).

Write her back immediately and let her know she's just become the posterchild for what not to do when submitting the essay request for GT.


I sure hope it was tongue-in-cheek, otherwise the world is in more trouble than I'd thought.
