To be honest, I always think short and sweet is the best way to go with sympathy cards. They just want to know you're sorry for your loss, you're aware there's nothing you can say, and that you're thinking of them.

That would comfort me in that position, I think, though touch wood I don't need that kind of comfort for a good long while!
