Random Ten Meme

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] everstar3:

Ten random songs from my shuffled-up playlist:

Follow You Down, Gin Blossoms
D'yer Mak'er, Led Zeppelin
See the Sun, Dido
I Will Remember You, Sarah McLachlan
The Way, Fastball
Imaginary, Evanescence
It's Probably Me, Sting and Eric Clapton
Do You Have a Little Time, Dido
I've Got to See You Again, Norah Jones
Breakfast at Tiffany's, Deep Blue Something

In other news, I've misplaced my checkbook.  Like, badly.  I had it on the coffee table Monday night, and now it's nowhere to be had.  I haven't used it since -- I rarely use it, in fact.  I'm thinking it might have got mixed in with the trash (we had pizza and wings and beer for the Hurricanes game Monday night), in which case... I don't know.  I guess I should call the bank, but damn, what a pain in the ass.  It either got knocked into the trash, or one of the cats knocked it off the table and... I don't know what.  It's not under the couch, chair, or ottoman, so I'm at a loss.  Bleh.

In other other news, I received my order from Peet's today.  Can I just say, the Earl Grey with Lavender?  O. M. G.  *loves*  I also got some Irish Breakfast, some Golden Dragon Oolong, and some peppermint tea.  I'm waiting to get a tetsubin before I make the Golden Dragon, but I opened the tin and smelled it, and ohemgee, it's divine.  Seriously.  Like I told [livejournal.com profile] somnambulicious, you just want to roll around in the scent of it.  So far, though, I've only tried the Earl Grey with Lavender, and it's gorgeous.  I know a few people who don't like Earl Greys, and this tastes enough unlike an Earl Grey that I'd recommend it to them.

And in other other other news, one of my beloved OGAM betas has told me she simply doesn't have the time anymore to beta for me, which brings me down to two betas for OGAM rather than my preferred three (yes, I'm that anal).  Is there anyone out there who'd be interested in beta'ing for the last ten chapters or so?  Mostly I like folks to point out when I've overlooked a grammatical something, or made a typo, or left a word out of a sentence (or put too many in -- both of which I've done many times).  My big loves, though, are when people point out little lapses in continuity, character behavior, or when a scene just doesn't seem to ... work, for whatever reason.  I can usually catch grammar stuff -- it's the non-grammar stuff I appreciate help with.  (And, yes, the two I have are wonderfully competent, honest people.  However... I have a thing with doing things in threes.  Mild OCD perhaps.  Hard to tell.)

What I don't want?  "Chapter's great! Doesn't need anything!"  I mean, if you like something, tell me (or I may talk myself into changing it), but if something doesn't work?  Let me know, and don't be shy about it.

So, any takers?

What about Breakfast at Tiffany's? ;)

[identity profile] w0rdinista.livejournal.com 2005-09-10 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it...

Well, that's one thing we've got.

I'd love to help, but my plate's already full. Best of luck finding someone.

As far as the tea goes, let me know what you think of the Irish Breakfast. That's one of my favorite teas and I'm always looking for new brands.^_^

If you are looking for someone to read it and check flow and feel not to mention the whole character thing. I can do that. I would love to help. So send it on over if you want. You know I can't do the grammar but you have that covered.

Well, I've got Ch 52 all done and edited and posted and I'm pretty content with it, but once I've got a draft of 53, it's soooo coming to you, lady. :)

Besides, you're a new mom. You've got knowledge and experience I'm going to have to call on soon. ;)

Hi again! ^^;; *waves sheepishly*

Omg, a friend of the family once threw away $1,000 on accident. o.O She didn't realize 'till it was gone, either. *winces*

I like Vanilla Chai Tea shakes! But I've never gotten to drink much more than that or iced tea, lol.

Sooo... do you want something along the lines of a very detailed review? If its a fic from something I know or like, then I'd be more than happy to help out, but you don't know me very well so its perfectly fine if you'd rather have someone else. ^_^; I don't really do beta work, because I'm not much for grammar, but I do like to explore plots and characters so I could probably spot a continuity error or something out of place. heh

*waves back*

...Um... it's very, very sweet of you to offer, but... there's a small problem. See... the fic in question is, well, it's an Inuyasha fic, but that's not the problem. The problem is that it's 52 chapters in, and about ten chapters from the end. And... yeah. I've stopped counting how many pages the fic itself is -- something like 600 last time I checked. So, while I appreciate the offer, I don't want to scare you. :)

Haha, that's monstrous. XD But I like those kinds of huge honking fics, so since you've found someone else (*has read your other comments*), I think I'll just read it instead of beta'ing. ^_~

Well, be warned that the first eight chapters make me cringe and want to hide. (I'll probably do some heavy revising once the story is complete.) If you can get past those, then it sort of evens out.

[identity profile] dazed-faerie.livejournal.com 2005-09-12 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I think we all feel that way about our work at some point. Its all wonderful and fantabulous in the beginning, but then you look back and go, "What was I thinking?!" ...then you revise. ^^

Cool, this should be fun.

Yeah I guess I am a new mom. It seems do weird to say Lill has been here for 8 weeks now. So I can tell you about sitting there crying because you don't know what to do and neither does your spouse. It isn't as if you are incompetents. Babies on the whole don't have instructions or off buttons. No matter how much you pray. I can also tell you that with one look it can all not matter. My husband had never held a baby till they put her in his arms right after she was born. She was still cheesy and they were doing the close up on me. He was stunned that they handed her to him. He sat there and the longer he looked at what we had done the brighter his smile got. She was his little girl, he proudly brought her over to show me (I was tied down like a frog for dissection so I couldn't hold her) and so proudly showed me his daughter. Having won the baby sex pool and being so happy about it. Whoops I did not mean to go blathering on about what happened.

*salutes* I will try my best to be a good story beta for one of my all time favorite stories! you have my address right for stuff? If not I will give it to you, or you can look for me on yahoo, gmail or AIM (although there I am therhodachan because therhoda was taken) and I will give it to you there.
