wordinista: (cast me gently into morning)

Well that can't be a good sign...

When the cheerful, optimistic vet starts to look worried, that really can't be good.

Took Bronte in for another blood test, to check her RBC -- it was down.  Last time it was about 20%, this time it was 12%.  WTF.  She's been on her meds, and I have been OMG so vigilant about pilling her, and now the RBC is down?

He told me not to worry too much -- outside factors could have influenced the test, or something like that.  Basically I wasn't charged for the visit, and I'm to go back in on Monday, where he'll take more blood, and... I don't know.  See what we can see, I guess.

I'm worried.  I know he told me not to worry, but I'm worried.  This is my B-bear.  My Bronte.  My big, sweet pudding of a cat.  She's a gentle soul with teddy-bear fur, and she's sick, and she's not getting better.  And it's a little upsetting.  (And the fact that I'm still wildly hormonal is not helping, I'm sure.)

I'm also getting a little concerned about the vet bills.  She's been going in every two weeks for... it has to be the past two months.  I'd have to go back and check, but we've been doing this for a while.  Darwin's going in for surgery on 10/9 (he's getting the "boys" snipped), and I know that's not going to be cheap.  I've been thinking about opening myself up for proofreading, because goodness knows I have no business at all opening myself up for art commissions. ;)  Though I'm not sure how good an idea that is, since just about anyone can get things proofread/critiqued for free.  (I'm talking about research papers and resumes and stuff like that -- not fic, obviously.)  So I don't know.  I have to think of something.

Right at this very moment, I'm thinking of a cuppa and some Tylenol (we're out of Midol, dammit).  And possibly a little lie-down before going grocery shopping.

*hugs*

Good luck at the appointment on Monday. I hope things will go well.

I'm sorry to hear about the OMG Demon!Cat. I took my sister's little piggy in for a checkup today too and she needs thyroid meds, but at least she is still hopping around and doing what she wants.

How do you open up for proofreading?

Bronte's certainly not ACTING like she's sick. I'm really hoping that the appointment on Monday shows that Friday's reading was a fluke.

I'm not sure how I'd make myself available for proofreading services, short of putting up flyers at the college campus. I have to think about it a little more.

Uh, Niamh-sama. I am moving tomorrow and I am 1/2 chapter away from the edit being finished. Stop bringing me down! And as of tomorrow I will be internetless for about a week or so. Please stop making me stress out over your poor cat! I can't take the pressure!

Mucho hugs to you and your kitty. I hope everything will turn out alright for the poor baby. How old is she?

*hugs* Sorry!! Bronte's only two years old, so she's far too young to have any sort of major health problem. I'm really, really hoping she turns out okay. She really is such a sweet little girl. Unlike her sister, Kisa, who totally needs to be put on some kind of kitty Prozac.

Okay, I'm back. How's the cat?

*cuddles teh puddin'*

You could still charge for proofreading at your local college campuses. If you play up the fact that you're a former teacher yourself so you have a good idea of what they'd look for....

Well, just a thought.

Yeah, I could definitely do that. Lord knows they have enough places for people to advertise for room-mates, used books, and junker cars. :)

Urgh! None of this sounds cheap and you can't stop doing it. Not good! Other than the count being low, is your kittykat all right in herself?

[identity profile] w0rdinista.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and that's the crazy thing! She's put on a pound and a half since I took her in for that first visit, when she seemed listless and underweight. She's back to playing and getting in trouble, and has resumed her annoying yet adorable habit of scratching at the bedroom door to be let in.

I really, really hope we can find out what's wrong with her. :(

*hugs* I'm sorry sweetie.

*hugs* Thanks. Darned stupid animals, wiggling their way into our hearts and making us worry about them.
