I cannot even make this up.

A suspicious package was discovered at the Cocoa Beach Social Security office today.  The county sheriff's department was called in, as well as the bomb squad.  You know, like you do when dealing with suspicious packages.

...

The package?

Contained kittens.

Awwwwwwwwww! Poor kitties. I hope they find/found the other little guy. Guess that just goes to show -- Want your abandoned kitties taken care of, leave them in a suspicious box in front of a public building.

I know! (But part of me is worried that some sicko wanted to see if the bomb squad would explode the box FIRST.)

Hey now, my dog will be the first one to tell you that kittens are very, I repeat: VERY, dangerous. Each tiny kitten might look like a bundle of cuteness wrapped in soft, fluffy fur and their little "mew" may pluck at your heartstrings, but beware what lies beneath that adorable package. Each kitten possesses TWENTY spiked, sharp barbs of pain - five on each paw! Their eyes are able to focus on dog noses with razor precision, allowing their weapons of doom to zero-in for MAXIMUM DAMAGE. And the worst yet? They are masters of disguise, with the ability to lurk in the shadows, under the bed, or behind the couch and pounce at a moment's notice on their poor, feeble victims.

Rugby knows all this first-hand and begged me to spread the word about the dangers of kittens.

:)

Darwin and Sydney say they're interested in subscribing to Rugby's newsletter.

SYDNEY SEZ: KITTIEZ IS DANGURUS.

DARWIN SEZ: AN' DEY SKRATCHUZ MY NOSE. :(

Eight weeks old and already striking terror into the hearts of local government. (sniff!) They grow up so fast.

Wee evil little kitties. ♥

I just looked at the video. Too bad the other ran away, but -- oh, my.

Maybe the intended target was allergic? Noooo... not kitte-ACHOO!

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2010-10-23 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Kittens don't have the allergy-causing enzyme in their dander, even the most cat-allergic person can play with kittens. Now if there'd been two full-grown longhairs in there, I'd say you have a point.

[identity profile] bamftastik.livejournal.com 2010-10-23 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I did not know that! Now I just need someone who will let me borrow their kitten until it tries to murder my nose :D

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2010-10-23 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The catch is, they have to be old enough and/or separated from the parent long enough to have been washing themselves. The allergic substance is from adult cat saliva.

At least, that's what I've always heard and it's borne out in my experience. I can be around kittens and some low-dander ragdoll breed cats all day, but the other 90% of cats in the world? Not so much.

Thankfully the bomb squad didn't take the "blow it up just in case" approach.

No kidding! Evidently X-raying the package FIRST is standard operating procedure.
