wordinista: (Caffeine <3)

It's not even 8 AM yet, I slept like total ass, have to clean the house today, and yet...

I feel like firing up Rock Band 2 and singing myself hoarse.

Amy Lee just sort of does that to me.  And I have had "Broken" in my head since yesterday, and I know that's not available on the RB marketplace, but I have other stuff I can sing along with and...

Yep.  I see me doing this.

And I haven't even had any caffeine yet this morning.  Weird.

My opinion on ukulele music is hereby changed forever.

In other news, day three of crate training was a mixed success.  It didn't take too much coaxing to get him into the crate, and there was no  howling last night -- just a little bit of whimpering until I turned off all the lights.  There was also no howling this morning, and no whimpering until he saw me coming to take him outside.  There was, however, a little puddle in the corner.  :(  Maybe I should try getting up a little earlier and let him out for a potty break -- I don't know.

Today I think we're going to take him to the park -- we were going to go yesterday, but the poor little guy was wrecked from a long and apparently sleepless night in his crate.  He slept nearly the whole day away.  This morning he's all full of piss and vinegar, and will probably have a lot more fun. XD

Headache is gone! Whee! It took a little while to get rid of it, and I still hadn't lost it by the time I was getting ready to go to lunch with a friend of mine. Actually, she was my mentor when I first started working at the college. We haven't talked in months, and I figured it was high time we caught up. It was nice, actually. We went to a sushi restaurant in town that I'd always snubbed because nothing IN TOWN could possibly be any good, right?  Yeah.  Wrong.  I had a fantastic teriyaki beef rice bowl.  There was much love for it.  (I was still feeling a little queasy, or I would've had sashimi, but I fully plan on going back, so...)

It was really nice catching up with her -- I used to waste so much time in her office during my between-class gaps.  We decided we totally needed to do it again, soon.

When I got home, I discovered serious problems with my concentration today, so decided to cook instead of write.  I started making dinner around 3:30 -- chicken curry has a lot of prep work, but it's so worth it.  Seriously -- it's got a cook-time of 2.5 hours, and that's to say nothing of the prep, which includes toasting cardamon pods, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, peppercorns, cloves, 1/2 a cinnamon stick, and fenugreek seeds and grinding them up.

But the house smells to-die-for delicious right now, and I like making something that takes effort every now and then.

And what did I listen to while I was toasting, grinding, chopping, frying, and later dicing and sauteeing?

"Kaze no Naka e" -- the Miroku character single.

I have lost count how many times I've listened to it so far.

Yes, really.  Lost count.

And I think it's only fair for me to blame my love affair with this song on two people:  [livejournal.com profile] moonphased and [livejournal.com profile] squeakyinuears

It's not fair that Kouji sounds that good, all the time.  (Seriously.  I feel kind of bad sometimes, like I should like "Gou" more than I do.  It's okay, but not my favorite of the three.)

*Loves "Kaze no Naka e" like rowr*

*annnnnnnnnnnnd listens to it again*

Right, so a few days ago I was browsing iTunes, and stumbled across a plethora of Songs I'd Forgotten Existed.  Basically tunes from hair bands of the late 80's and early 90's.  I knew I had most of the CDs with the songs I had, by that point, developed an urge to listen to.  So did I go scrounging through filthy boxes in our utility room, searching for CDs that were probably scratched beyond recognition, or did I click the happy little "Buy Now" button in iTunes?

I can waste money in iTunes like no one's business, so I figured I'd look in the utility room FIRST and see what I could find.

OMG.  I hit the motherload.  Bands I'd forgotten about.  SONGS I'd forgotten about.  (I also found George's soundtrack to Waterworld, which I pulled out of retirement for him, even though I hate that film with every single solitary fiber of my being.)  And a lot of the CDs are in excellent condition, but I think I know the reason for this.  When I was younger, I was unbelievably obsessed with taking care of my things.  I kept my CDs alphabetized in a rack, and always, always, ALWAYS put them back in the right case.  This went down the drain when I started dating George -- BUT, he only abused the CDs he borrowed.  Heh.  He never borrowed most of this stuff.

I'm too embarrassed to name most of the CD's I unearthed.  But aside from that, I'm astounded to find that I can still sing along with these songs.  I am, however, too old to air-guitar like I used to. ;)

MYGOD, I'm a dork.

I just finished playing the film version of "The Importance of Being Earnest" for my Comp II class today, and I'm presently going mad because there's a song in the film ("Lady Come Down") adapted from one of Wilde's poems called Serenade (for Music).

I must find this song. MUST. I tried searching on iTunes, but it doesn't look like they have the film soundtrack there.

It's stuck in my head, you see. And while I'm quite happy to have it stuck in my head, I rather wish I could play it instead of just humming it (off-key, no doubt).

Ooh! I haven't checked Amazon!

*runs off to check Amazon*

Ooh! It's there!

....But I really only wanted the one song. Bah.

But, really, Rupert Everett and Colin Firth -- SINGING?

Hmm. I want this song.

Any suggestions?

Yes, yes, nice Recording Industry Officials, I do plan on procuring the song legally.

Legally, of course!

Colin Firth. *le sigh*

I now feel like watching Pride and Prejudice. XD

Okay, so [livejournal.com profile] evilpuppy "passed the baton" to me to do this music meme, so I figger I'll do it now rather than later. God only knows how many times she'll try and hit me with that thing before she decides it's fun.

...I should probably hook my speakers up for this.

*turns on light and hooks speakers up, muttering at the st00pid cables*

The Music Meme... )

Hmm... and I'm passing the meme-baton to....

[livejournal.com profile] katmorning -- Because I often wonder what Kats listen to when they're not brandishing their claws at my troublesome students.

[livejournal.com profile] recurrence -- Because I know there's gotta be some GOOD stuff there.

[livejournal.com profile] tatertott -- Oh, knowing you, there has to be a heck of an eclectic collection. :)

[livejournal.com profile] dqbunny -- Because I'm curious.

[livejournal.com profile] naybob -- Again, because I'm curious.
