Whee! Cold snap!
Jan. 10th, 2004 03:06 pmFor some reason -- one I have yet to figure out on my own -- Florida winters always put me into a mood. A bad mood. I think it might be because I lived so much of my life in a cold-weather state, and it just feels unnatural for temps to be reaching the 80's in December/January.
And, I know, I know, a lot of people would be giving up limbs and important internal organs to experience an 80-degree winter. But, really, it ain't all it's cracked up to be.
Think about all the enjoyable things that winter brings -- cute sweaters, new boots, hot chocolate, for example. It's never cold enough to enjoy those things unless you turn the air-conditioning waaaay down.
But -- yay! Cold snap! It's, like, fifty degrees out! Considering last week it was an annoying 80, this makes me happy. I've half a mind to pull out my favorite Fair Isle sweater, make some hot chocolate, and go sit outside -- just because I CAN.
I'm also in a good mood because I managed to finish chapter 38 of OGAM. I swear, that thing was a bear to write. Nanda hit the nail on the head, too -- it was a "hafta" chapter. I HAD to write it, there were things I HAD to cover, and there was no getting around that. So I sucked it up, and made the corrections my betas had suggested, and -- I'll be damned -- it didn't turn out half bad. It still smacks of a "hafta" chapter to me, but it doesn't annoy me as much as it did. (Of course, I think 39 is going to be a "hafta" chapter too. Blech.) I think part of the reason why I was able to fix it is because Evvie's still in Germany and I couldn't whine to her about the problem, so my choices were kind of limited. I could either fix the problem or NOT fix the problem.
(And WHY does FFN take SO LONG to show that a story's been updated? Something weird happened as I was uploading, and I can't tell if I need to re-upload or not.)
I think today is going to be one of those nice, laid-back days. And I really, really think I'm going to go search out my fuzziest, fluffiest, cuddliest sweatshirt, open a window, and make some of my uber-yuppie "Williams Sonoma Peppermint Hot Chocolate." There is NO better hot chocolate on the face of this earth. Seriously. God, just thinking about it makes me want some! :)
