Well, this is the first semester ever that I did NOT give my students an extension on their papers. Nope -- these puppies were due on the due date, and not a week later, as I've been wont to do in the past. Usually I've granted extensions on final research papers because I was already behind on grading, and needed to scramble in order to get myself on task.

But, as I've already mentioned, I got ALL of my back-grading done and taken care of, so I could take the papers when I said I would.

My to-do list, as it stands right now:

Comp I (MW class): approx 20 papers (none graded)
Comp I (Fri class): 12 papers (ALL graded)
Brit Lit: 14 final exams (none graded)
Comp II: 22 final exams (they take it tomorrow)

The final exams are mostly done on Scantron sheets (though I think in the future I may make them blue-book tests), so they won't take any time at all to grade. The funny thing about final research papers is that they really DON'T take a long time to grade, because I don't usually have to correct grammar and punctuation. My attention is usually focused more on thesis development and support. Of course, there's always going to be the odd paper from the person who barely showed up on time and who doesn't think I'm serious about failing slackers. *rolls eyes*

It's been an interesting semester -- a fun one, too. The Brit Lit class was pretty much everything I'd hoped it would be (though I do wish they'd been more with the discussion, but what're ya gonna do). With any luck, I'll get to teach a Brit Lit I class (Beowulf, Shakespeare, Donne, etc) next fall, but I haven't really heard anything about that yet. In the meantime, I applied for a full-time position at one of the other campuses. The money is a LOT better than what I'm currently making as an adjunct, so I'm crossing my fingers over that.

The only downside, if I were to get the job, is that I don't know if I'd be able to keep the Brit Lit I class, if they decide to make room in the schedule for it. I might be able to cajole someone -- arguing that a lot of these kids are going to need both Brit Lit I AND II, if they're planning to transfer to a 4-year university -- and they will. Well, they will if they're English majors. And quite a few of them were.

Much to my consternation, I did NOT get a tattoo this weekend. Not for lack of trying, though. Every time I brought it up to George, he decided to be all practical and stuff (he's SUCH a libra!). First was, "I don't think you can just walk in and get a tattoo. You probably have to make an appointment or something." (Not true, as I found out.) Then was, "You should probably wait until the school year's over, so you don't have to worry about covering it up -- so it'll heal properly." He did have a point there, so I think I'm going to do it tomorrow, after Comp II takes their final.

Without you-know-who. *big smile* I can't wait to see the look on his face.

Well, that's where I am right now. I've decided that I'm not even going to worry about OGAM until my grading is all finished and the grades all recorded. I have the next three chapters planned out in my head; it's just a matter of getting them out of my head and on a computer screen. :)

As a side-note... Anyone know what's up with Mikaila's Kumo-no-Su site? Grayspace seems to be completely down. *frowns* KnS is probably the BEST Mir/San fanart site (in English, anyway) ever, so I reeeally hope nothing bad has happened.
