Oscar Wilde once said, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."

So, I get up this morning after having had too little sleep. I go to work, like a good slave to academia should (pft -- academia. It's a community college). I teach my class. I get the car washed (waited an HOUR at the car wash OMG), and then I come home. Home. My blissful haven from the idiocy of the outside world.

I check my email, as I am wont to do. And I see that, yay, I have mail!

I had mail letting me know about this.

Please don't tell me that wank trolls don't have anything fucking better to do than to hover around GT looking for scraps.

This isn't the first time GT's been mentioned on fandom_wank, and the last time it happened, I was irritated enough (it had to do with that whole Urd-chan fiasco, related to the Ecchi list). But a second time? DAMMIT!

You try to keep an area of the 'Net nice. You invite people in, and you hope they take their shoes off, use coasters, not put feet on the furniture... but no. No -- it's got to get turned into a friggin' wank-fest. Muddy footprints, rings on the coffee table...

I'm really fucking annoyed with this, if you can't tell. My hope for GT had always been that it would be a wank-free zone.

Goddammit.

Add to this that my little religious-right student has struck again, handing in a paper citing Corinthians as a valid and proveable reason why same sex couples should not be allowed to adopt children. Here's the passage used in the argument:

"Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God."

I was unaware that advance guaranteed admission into the Kingdom of God was a pre-requisite to adopting a child. *headdesk* I'm not saying what my views are one way or the other on this. What I will say is that it annoys me beyond all comprehension when (1) someone misuses a text as old and as open to interpretation as the Bible for their own agendas, and (2) when I have said, point-blank, with no question for misunderstanding, that religious beliefs don't work as a base for academic arguments. I have said this so many times, I'm thinking about having bumper stickers printed so these people will GET IT.

So, there was work-related annoyance, car wash-related annoyance (an HOUR! WAITING!), and now fandom-related annoyance. Because what day would be complete without a triple-header?

Dammit. I'm half tempted to just delete the damned threads.
