So, I'm thirty.

Well, that's gonna take some getting used to. Saying it, I mean.

Anyway -- I just wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU to everyone for all the sweet birthday well-wishes. I was... heh... kind of surprised last night as I was scrolling through all of them. But it was that warm and fuzzy sense of surprise. Thank you so much. :) It was just... wow. Overwhelming, actually. It might have been the merlot I was drinking as I was checking LJ, but I was actually getting a little weepy, hee.

The day itself was... weird.

It was rainy, which sucked. And we're watching our friends' Jack Russell terrier (which doesn't suck, except for when she needs to be walked first thing on a rainy, chilly morning). So, Marley (the dog), needs to be walked, and I tried bribing George to do it. He whined a bit, and I got out of the warm, snuggly bed in a huff, muttering about having to go OUT on my BIRTHDAY in the RAIN.

When Marley and I came in about ten or fifteen minutes later, George was in the kitchen, making me a birthday breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, and toast. As a surprise. It was all a ploy, apparently, and he got started the minute I left to walk the dog.

We then got "De-Lovely" on the "On-Demand" channel (you know -- you "buy" movies and get a day-long viewing?), and... I still don't know how I feel about it. I love Ashley Judd, and I LOVE Kevin Kline. But... I guess I was just really emotionally invested in the movie, because I started getting REALLY mad at Cole Porter. Just... I dunno. The level of selfishness portrayed in the film kind of... bothered me. That someone could be that selfish. It was all about him -- what made HIM happy. The movie was GOOD -- don't get me wrong. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

So, anyway. I took a little nap before getting ready to go out for birthday sushi with Mom and George. And while I was getting ready, the rain started coming down harder. By the time we were ready to leave, it was raining buckets. Fun, right?

By the time we get on the highway towards Mom's house, George and I decide that driving a half hour south, and then another 45 minutes further south (in the pouring rain), just for dinner, is a bad idea. So I call and ask Mom if she minds going to Outback instead. Luckily, she doesn't mind. I hang up, relieved.

George then pointed out that Outback is all of ten minutes from my mother's house, and she could get there early and grab a table while we were still en route. So I called her back and asked her to do that, rather than waiting for us to pick her up.

She said she couldn't. She was having car trouble. This pissed George off, because my mother took her car to Winter Park yesterday, driving all over hell's half-acre.

But, we drive to Mom's. While we're in the driveway -- and it's still raining cats and dogs -- I call the house and let her know we're there, and could she please come out rather than making us run in to fetch her. We're both soaked and cranky by this point, and I'm wishing we'd rescheduled for the following week.

Mom then told me my grandfather had a card for me, and had some flowers to give me. I'm like, "Oh, for crying out LOUD. I just want to EAT!" But I said okay, and prepared to brave the elements. George is in a positively foul mood by this point and all either of us want to do is go HOME and order in.

I opened the door...

To a surprise party.

...

...

Boy, did I feel like an ass. (For getting so cranky earlier.)

Mom hadn't told George, because she was afraid he'd tell me. (We kind of do that.)

But my Uncle Barry flew down (with his wife, who I also adore to pieces, and his kids, who are cuter than kids should be) for the surprise. My cousin Erica was supposed to come too, but she's in pharmaceutical school, and her professor wouldn't let her take her exam early. Jerk. But... there was a party.

I'm still flabbergasted.

AND EVERYTHING WAS DECKED OUT WITH HARRY POTTER DECORATIONS! SQUEE! Even a Harry Potter CAKE. DUDE.

So... yeah. Party. I'm kind of beat today, so I'm glad I arranged for a sub in the morning. I have to go to class, still, but, wow, I don't think I could be more unmotivated. Bleh.
