Home home home home home HOME!
Jan. 22nd, 2006 10:41 amWe're HOME.
Okay, this weekend was... a mixed bag, I suppose. We went camping with a whole big group of people -- our friends R and C, C's parents, her two sisters (we'll call them Goofy and Bitchy), Bitchy's Boyfriend (who I would call Gh3y Boi In Denial if it wasn't such a long name), and C's parents' friends (along with their daughter). Oh, and R and C's two little kids -- J and H.
So, yeah. Lots of people. Thankfully, we knew everybody but the parents' friends (and daughter). Generally speaking, it was fun. We always have fun with R and C, and their kids are just about the only kids we know who don't make me want to run for a hysterectomy.
We got to the site Thursday night, set up camp, and had some dinner before turning in (setting up the tent in the dark was interesting, but C's dad helped us out). Friday Tora-kun and I, along with C and Goofy and the two kids went for a little hike. Mostly we all sort of hung out and traded stories.
And it was while hanging out and trading stories that the most bizarre thing EVER happened.
Tora-kun got stung by a bee.
In his MOUTH.
Yes. Really. In his mouth. Apparently a bee had crawled into his soda can when he wasn't looking, and when he took a drink, the bee went into his mouth, and before he could spit it out, it stung him on the roof of his mouth. He said, later, that it felt like every tooth in the upper row of teeth had gone rotten, throbbing like a whole bunch of toothaches. He had some Tylenol and took a nap, and after a little lunch, said he felt better.
So, yeah. That was fun.
It was also a little warmer than the forecast had predicted, so there was a lot of sweating, which meant a lot of bugs. So, aside from the warm weather, the bugs, and Tora-kun getting stung in his mouth, it was great. ;) The company was wonderful, though. On Saturday everyone else went on a canoeing trip, and Tora-ku and I opted to stay behind. It was... kind of boring, so there was a lot of sleeping done, especially since it was so damned warm.
Saturday night we had a huge dinner (steaks, baked potato, salad, corn, and lots of other stuff), and then after cleaning up dinner, we built up the fire and made s'mores and... well, tried singing songs. But we did it pretty badly. ;)
I'm leaving a lot out, obviously, but those are the main bits. We left around 7 in the morning, and got home around 9'ish, and we've both showered, and had something to eat, and I'm ready to take a nap and OMG we're so totally ordering a pizza tonight.
It was fun, but we both decided if we ever go camping on our own, we're going to do it somewhere where it's cooler.
