...Guys?

...

I.  I think there's a cicada in the house.

...

How do I get it out?  For that matter, how do I find it?

EDIT:  Okay, possibly NOT a cicada, unless cicadas chirp in identical patterns, once every minute.  (Yes, one minute exactly -- I timed it.  Unless this is one very OCD cicada.)

OKAY, NEW QUESTION:  WHAT'S THAT NOISE?

EDIT #2:  IT'S COMING FROM THE CENTER SPEAKER IN FRONT OF THE TV.  WTF.

It's... coming from our center speaker.

I HAVE AN OCD CICADA TRAPPED IN OUR SPEAKER SYSTEM.

It sounds like maybe your speakers are starting to go. How old are they?

AIEAIEAIEAIEAIEAIE!!!!! O_O

Maybe it's an electrical interference? I thought cicadas made longer noises, though my last memory of actual cicadas is from when I was like 10 and living in Georgia. ^^;;

Ooh! Camel crickets! They jump and jump and jump!

I'm with Jin. I once spent three days figuring out that my dorm room smoke detector was low on batteries.

...The fact that I cannot remember might mean they are indeed quite old. Dammit.

Well, it was like, "CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP"

*one minute of silence*

"CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP CHIRRRRP"

*rinse, repeat*

I have NO idea what's causing it.

Definitely not the smoke detector. I checked that first, once I figured out it was an electrical something. It's definitely the speaker.

We get crickets in our walls sometimes. Or I'm going insane. Last year, there was this one in the wall by my room. All night long, that fricking thing would chirp. Drove me nuts for about a week before I pounded the wall in frustration... and the damn thing moved down two feet. So I pounded again. And it moved another two feet. Eventually got it out of my walls. Success! It came back off and on throughout the fall. Or different ones. Not like I care. But I'd pound, and they'd go away.

...late last week, I woke up to a cricket noise in another wall. *cries*

Unless it's not a cricket or an insect of some kind, and I'm just insane. That's also possible. O.o;

MYSTERY SOLVED:

http://w0rdinista.livejournal.com/215961.html

I used to get crickets in my old bedroom, when I was in high school. I... do not know how they got in, only that they did and I could never tell where the sound was coming from, and it would always stop once I turned on the light. Surefire way to set someone on the short road to Crazytown.
