Open letter to me:

Dear Body,
Okay, no, seriously, what the hell's going on here? Laid up for two weeks with the flu -- okay, I made it through that. Cramps on top of the flu, on top of holiday prep? Sure thing. Then I felt better and started doing things and everything was hunky-dory.
So please do me the courtesy of telling what in the hell was up with the sudden, unexpected, out-of-the-effing-blue fever I spiked yesterday? One minute I'm watching Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind, and the next I'm asking Tora to give me his throw blanket, until I was under three blankets, shivering until my teeth chattered. So I put on a sweatshirt and socks and huddled under the covers, basically trying to WILL AWAY the chills. 101.7 degrees, baby. Pair that with some awesometastic nausea, and you've got the makins for a FUN DAY. Last night seemed promising, as I actually did get something of an appetite back and ate some egg-drop soup and had a cuppa chai before bed.
Today the fever is lower (hovering around 99 degrees), but the nausea is sticking around like an unwanted relative. The smell of everything turns my stomach, and because I spent all night breaking my fever, over and over again, my side of the bed was delightfully sweaty. Sheets have been washed and need to be dried -- and they needed to be washed because my nose was so insanely sensitive that I could not take a nap without feeling all gross and stomach-floppy.
Seriously. WTF?
Miserably yours,
Bunneh
PS: Thank god I thought to buy applesauce (okay, so technically it's "pear-sauce," which is quite tastier than apple sauce), otherwise, I would not have EATEN ANYTHING AT ALL TODAY. Oh, and ginger ale is my friend. My best friend. Me, pear-sauce, and ginger-ale are all going on a weekend away together, that's how much I love them both.

Date: 2006-12-31 10:44 pm (UTC)I hear ya! There ought to be laws against that sort of timing.
If you've got what I've got, all I can say is that it lingers. Be prepared to go around sounding like you're periodically hacking up a lung for at least another week. As for the fever: soup and tea, love. Soup and tea. A couple hours curled up in a sunny spot (inside so you don't get any stray chills if there's a cloud) helps a bit too.
I hope you feel better soon! *sends get-better vibes*
