Fact: The one rhetorical question most frequently asked of the animals in our house is easily "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR ONLY MIND?"

This is actually better than "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR [EXPLETIVE] MIND?" for obvious reasons.

Case in point:

Kisa was stalking a lizard on the screen. Stalking it through the window, no less. And then tried to pounce the lizard through a pane of hurricane-tempered glass. She jumped at the closed window, promptly bounced off, landed on my inbox (knocking a number of things over), and then leapt from my inbox to the back of my chair as if to distance herself from the scene of the idiocy as quickly as possible. Cue the dogs who snap to attention the absolute second I say Kisa's name in a certain tone of voice, and we have INSTANT CHAOS centered around my desk chair (which I am sat in at the time), with Kisa meowing plaintively above it all like, "What'd I do?"

So, yes. Just in case anyone happened to be wondering? Kisa's still the dumb one.

And I suddenly miss Bronte. A lot. :(

EDIT: And I just ran over SOMETHING of Sydney's with my chair. AUGH. She seems to be okay, despite the yelp she just let out, and despite the CLUMP OF FUR now on the floor. D:

Reminds me of when my sister brought Cleo to stay with us a few weeks. Suddenly my big fat stupid cat is awake again. I've always thought that BFSC was very stupid, but Cleo is not only more stupid, but spry enough to make that entertaining.

I really thought Kisa would get less stupid as she got older. No such luck. Not only is she dumb, she apparenty likes taking her life into her own paws -- the dogs were boarded from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. Sometime Saturday morning, Kisa started pacing in front of our door, meowing over and over again. Now, when she does this while the dogs are home, they practically kill each other scrambling out of the room to chase Kisa, who then hightails it to the top of her kitty condo.

The fact that she was doing this Saturday morning, and continued doing it until I went to the door and said, "They aren't here. They aren't going to chase you. Knock it off," tells me that somewhere in that little kitty brain of hers, being chased by two lummoxes that are collectively ten times her weight IS FUN.

Oho! She's too arthritic to hop up there now (and I'm pretty sure she can't see) but we couldn't complain about our neighbors' dog barking because half the time, there was Lilly on the other side of the fence, going, "Yooo ca-an't get me! Yooo ca-an't get me!"

Our adopted kitty, Cleo (the one left by the unruly next door neighbors), is in a love-hate relationship with Rugby. She'll cuddle up right underneath his head, rolling onto her tummy and cooing sweet nothings at him. Then he gets it in his dopey head that right now would be a great time to shove his nose directly into her face, to which Cleo immediately responds with claws, hissing and running away...only to come sauntering back to do it all again.

Pets are weird. Cleo has always had a serious cat-attude. She's nearly 5 years old and in all that time she hasn't shown the slightest interest in being a playful kitty, regardless of how much a try. Then, about two weeks after Annie died, her inner kitten emerged and has been trying to make up for lost time ever since.

The cat who looked at me like I had lost my mind if I offered her string just six months ago now has toys every where and insists I play string with her at least twice a day for at least 30 minutes in a stretch.

Oh, and did you get my message about puppy questions?

That's actually a really adorable story. Inner kitten emerges 5 years later? Socute. ♥

And no! I didn't get any message from you about puppy questions. Try emailing me instead? evilbunneh (at) gmail (dot) com

They are wonderful and yet make us facepalm ourselves into brain-damage.

A common refrain around my place too. Case in point: if a human says "meow," all three of my danes will run to the front window barking like killer attack dogs, complete with raised fur. Mind you, this is even if you give them the "watch me" command before hand and they are standing no more than a foot away staring at your face when you do it. However, if a real cat decides to wander across the patios meowing it's head off, they ignore it completely. Go figure.
