Woot! We're home.

Not only are we home -- we have electricity.

We're both so fucking exhausted. It took the better part of four hours to drive home; I-4 was backed up for 60 miles and I'm pretty sure we didn't go over 35 mph while we were on that stretch of highway. Bronte fell asleep in her carrier, but Kisa cried for most of the drive. We got home, figured out we have power, and started unloading the car. I then had to run out to the grocery store because we were out of kitty litter and laundry detergent, and I'd left our toothbrushes and toothpaste in Tampa.

We had a proper dinner, because the frozen stuff in the freezer was still frozen, and I could use our oven. So, yay!

But god DAMN, I'm tired.

The college is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so it looks like I'm going back to work on Thursday. Mom asked me to come over and help pick up the limbs and branches and crap in the yard tomorrow and George is going to head down to the office with his boss to see what the state of the building is. I don't have high hopes -- the building is right on US-1 and is a little on the old side to begin with. Well, we'll see.

I've got to call around tomorrow -- a lot of our bills are due during the first half of the month, and we had the small problem of fleeing our home to deal with. Urgh.

So tired. I can't wait to get to sleep in my OWN bed tonight. Mmmm. Featherbed. Queen-size. Down comforter. Mmmm.

*hugs bunny* Yay! I'm so glad everything is fine and dandy, you're ok and your home is ok.

You're real strong. I would go fucking crazy if I have to drive at 35mph for 4 hours.

I thought I'd just drop by here to leave a couple of comments - as you may or may not have seen, I got through the first couple of chapters of your work, and sent them back with comments - loved it! I just thought I'd check that you got them alright, as I've been having some difficulties with my e-mail of late... let me know if they haven't reached you.

Also, I've become deeply frustrated with writer_girls as a community, largely because I seem to be doing a huge amount of critiquing but rarely get any back. I'm letting you know because as a consequence I'm adding the people from there who seemed interesting to my friends list before I quite. Hope it's OK with you - that means you among others... Don't feel obliged to return the gesture. Entirely up to you!

Bye!

Stella -- thanks for letting me know about the email! I never received it, so if you could send it again, that would be hugely helpful.

I know what you mean about writer_girls -- I haven't been very active there lately because we're in the midst of hurricane season here, and between Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances, I've been a little busy. ;) (And now we have Hurricane Ivan in the Atlantic, and I am simply not in the mood for any more of this hurricane business.)

No problem with adding me as a friend -- I'm always glad to expand my friends list! :)
