"On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first fifteen songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down a random line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs."

Okay, I'm going to give this one a try... some are OMG so easy. Some... I'll be impressed if y'all get.

Yep, yep, and yep. I had a feeling you'd get the Snoopy one. "Snoopy Versus the Red Baron," actually, but you were close enough. ;)

...Well, yeah, but I was too amused to list the full title, doncha know. ;) 'Cause we all know amusement impairs the brain. (Especially after that "brainstorming" session for the comedy RR...my sides still hurty.)

5. Well, I know there's this song called "Stormy Weather" from this ooooold movie, black and white to boot...

Okay, I'm kidding, it's wrong. I don't know any of these songs and this is closest to a guess that I can make. -_-; See the wimpiness radiate off my skin.

*patpat* Don't feel too bad. We only have the Japanese versions, so I've been hearing it like that for so long that I can't take the English one. It just sounds... I don't know, it sounds off to me, you know?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I do like the English "Fukai Mori" and "My Will" for novelty's sake(obviously done by the same Tori Amos soundalike), but still, one would think I would recognize the Japanese version when I've been able to sing the lyrics in comically bad Western style for a couple of years now. Oh, well...

Yay! LOL -- I've been looking at some of the memes on my friends list, and feel like such a dork for not knowing more (or any) of them, so I know how you feel.

Eureka!

8. "Cold, Cold Heart," by...well, originally by Hank Williams, and then sung by Tony Bennett, and most recently Norah Jones.

Bravo, bravo! Yep, I've got the Norah Jones version. And I'm impressed that you know who did it originally -- I didn't know it was Hank Williams first.

*beaming* Now, what kind of a native Okie would I be if I didn't know at least half of Hank Williams' songs by heart?

Yep, you're right! I'm constantly surprised that people are recognizing the songs I'm most sheepish about. ^^

Heehee... aw, sheepish, shmeepish. Most of the songs on my playlist, I'm very sheepish-nish about, too. And I liked that song for some odd reason... if anything, because it was part of a karaoke list that we'd bring to parties and people were somehow drawn to it.... ;)

Funny how that works, isn't it? You're just drawn to these songs, no matter how much you tell yourself that it's just a silly teeny-bopper song, you still catch yourself humming it at the oddest hours. Or in the car. ^^;

Or, in the case of "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron," it's one of those songs I loved when I was a wee little thing, and got the urge one day to see if I could find it on iTunes. Imagine my surprise when it popped up!

...

How the HECK did you know that one? I swear, I thought that one was going to be the one NOBODY got.

*is impressed by Rosefire's l33t "old tunes" skillz*

I can thank my mother. She walks around the house singing all sorts of songs from her childhood and taught most of them to me when I was a helpless kid.

I'm sure I have a small corner of my brain penned off for 'old tunes mother taught me'. I never thought I'd really need them... till now. ^_~
