For reasons still unknown to me, I procrastinate with schoolwork. Still.

Now, this isn't something I used to do in grad school. No, actually I was really quite good about doing what I was supposed to do, with the small exception of the one time I read all of David Copperfield when I was supposed to have read Mary Wollstonecraft's Maria (which is a fraction of the length of DC). But right now, I'm contemplating Machiavelli's The Prince, which I'm supposed to have finished by tomorrow (I'm about five or six chapters in), and an Art History exam for Wednesday.

Yeah.

So, why am I sitting here, wasting time instead of doing my homework? It's not difficult, certainly. And I could get the Machiavelli finished in a couple of hours. And the Art History exams aren't notoriously difficult either -- so why am I simply planning on cramming for the test?

I DON'T KNOW.

My Othello paper got put off until the absolute last minute as well. I don't know why I do this. Then again, it's not like I'm having fun in lieu of doing homework. I just spent the past couple of hours washing the tile floors, cleaning what I suspect is cat pee off of my school bag, and cleaning up the kitchen. I have laundry waiting to be transferred from the washer to the dryer. I have dinner to contemplate.

And to be perfectly frank, if I sit down and try to read Machiavelli right now, I'm going to fall right asleep.

I wish I knew what it was about the undergraduate environment that makes me want to procrastinate. Granted, the past few months have been pretty stressful, and this past weekend was INSANE. Remember how I said Mom took Grampa to the ER on Thursday? Yeah. Turns out he was having a massive heart attack. Doing better now, though, and should be coming home this week. So maybe that's it. I got nothing done at all, because there was family drama, but I think I'm a bit rested up as a result. So call that an up-side. ;)

Well, I've put off ol' Niccolo long enough. Time to persevere and read and stuff...

PS: No, I have not heard back from Dr. Thompson yet. ;)

*cackles and falls down*

Don't forget you were talking to me on the phone about various and sundry things.

I didn't say it on the phone but I glad your grandpa is doing better.

Now time for me to tackle my own laundry...or take a nap.

He came home last night! He'll be home for two weeks, and then he goes back to have the other two stents put in.

Blech. Machiasmelli. He wrote most of it to suck up to the de Medici, too. And they threw his ass out. Served him right.

I hope your grampa gets better soon. :)
