Thanks to everyone who's offered their help -- I'm touched and a little surprised at the number of people who are willing to chip and and who are excited about doing so!

Plans were to send an informational email out to everyone today, but... I realize that I don't have everybody's email.

So.

IF YOU HAVE OFFERED TO HELP W/THE KOICHA PROJECT PLEASE LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN A COMMENT.

Comments will be screened... again.

If you've already given me your address, please just give it to me again.  If you think I already have your email, please give it to me again.  If you're one of those people who has five different email accounts (like I do, normally), give me the BEST address at which to reach you.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks to everyone who commented on this post.  I appreciate the interest and enthusiasm!

There are, however, a few small problems.

1.  As far as "fandom sections I would like to be involved with" goes, Inuyasha was no one's first choice.  I'd rather not choose someone to admin if IY is their second or third choice for fandom because... well, enthusiasm.  It's good.  There are people willing to help out with that section, which is good, but as of right now there is no tentative admin.  (And that's all I have so far -- tentative admins.)

2.  Only one person expressed interest in Slayers.  Without more interest, I'm really afraid we might not be able to include it.  (And then [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny would be upset, and I can't bear to upset a bunneh.)

3.  One of you ([livejournal.com profile] eostra I'm looking in your general direction) did not tell me your preferred fandoms.

4.  A lot of you didn't say anything about your skillz.  Don't underestimate yourself!  Can you draw?  Can you do supahcool Photoshop majix?  Are you good with Fireworks?  Dreamweaver?  Frontpage?  HTML?  Are you inordinately organized?  Before I can figure out what we need, I have to figure out what we've got.

All right.  Now that that's over...

My horoscope this morning said (and no, I'm not kidding):  "Be careful of going overboard when you decide to take on a project."  (Of course, yesterday's told me I'd discover the darkest part of my psyche, which left me rather unnerved all day.)  That firmly in mind, I'm considering each and every aspect of this site very carefully.

As of right now, Koicha is going to be a network of fandom discussion forums.  They will be forums that allow and encourage the posting of fanfiction and fanart.  (No galleries planned just yet.)  Said forums will, like GT, allow and encourage the "honesty without flames" policy regarding the discussion of fanworks.  GT was strictly an IY-fanfiction discussion forum, so conversations were very limited.  We're going to loosen the reins a little bit to include chapter/episode discussion as well as canonical discussion and speculation.  The focus will still be on fanworks, but not quite as limited.

Just a note:  Asshattery will not be tolerated.  None.  If you think yourself inclined to asshattery, do not pass "Go," do not collect $200.  If you aren't sure, ask your friends.  If you're still not sure, ask people who aren't your friends.  And after that, if you're still not sure, consider this: if you have more than three threads devoted to you at fandom_wank, chances are excellent you will not be happy at Koicha.

So, again I'm asking people to comment with their fandom interests and their l337 skillz.  Am screening comments again, so please include the best way to get in touch with you -- I'll be drafting a group email to everyone over the weekend.

EDIT: Knowledge and experience with PhPbb does, in fact, count as a l337 skill in my book. If you've worked with it, please mention that!

Hokay.  I've got ... something resembling an outline scratched out.

The list of fandoms (no more will be added for now):

Bleach
Fullmetal Alchemist
Furuba
Inuyasha
Naruto
Slayers

Here's what I'm planning.  Each fandom will have one administrator.  That administrator will choose her moderators.

Unfortunately, Tora-kun is not going to be able to build the entire thing from the ground up.  He'd love to, but time does not permit.  He is more than willing to help in any way possible, but he can't do it all like he did with GT.  He's going to do quite a bit, but not all of it. So, if you would like to be involved in creating the site, or if you are interested in adminning a fandom section, please comment here.

I realize this is pretty unorthodox, but... well, it's a pretty unorthodox plan for a site, when you get right down to it.

Want to help?  Then roll up your sleeves and dig in.

If you would like to participate, let me know.  If you want to be considered for adminning, mention which fandom you'd like to admin (am anticipating several people wanting to admin for the same fandom -- just work with me here), and if you have anything resembling l337 skillz, be they art skillz, programming skillz, Photoshop skillz, list them please. Comments will be screened for my own nefarious purposes.

Please only comment if you mean it.  Enthusiasm and energy are both great, but without dependibility, they're kind of useless.

Yes, GT really is going away.  I cancelled the domain and ... have absolutely no idea when the site is going to stop coming up.  But, yes, the domain's cancelled.  I've written our host and told them we're not renewing.  It's just a matter of time.

Yes, the Koicha site is a sure thing.  I'm trying to get an outline for it on paper and will be getting in touch with folks I'd like to mod/admin the various parts of the site.  I'll be in touch with folks for a pow-wow.  (If you were a GT mod/admin, chances are good -- excellent, really -- that I'll ask you to mod/admin Koicha.  Please feel free to refuse if it doesn't interest you.  No feelings will be hurt.)

No, I am not comfortable discussing publicly exactly what the Koicha site will entail.  Probably because I don't know for sure yet.

The target date for the Koicha launch is sometime in December.  Date will be narrowed down as more gets done on it.

No, Koicha will not be a GT clone.  But, as Koicha is a kind of green tea, that should be hint enough that it won't be radically different.

Suggestions, as always, are welcome. :)
