My pen hates me
Dec. 19th, 2005 11:32 amSo I'm sitting down to do Christmas cards, right? And I've got my super-spiffy Waterman fountain pen with a brand new cartridge of inky goodness just waiting to flow. Let me say now that I love this pen. I love it a lot. It's the Best Pen Ever, and my favorite souvenir, ever. (I bought it in Oxford in 1999.)
Today, however, my pen -- or perhaps I should blame my hands -- are rebelling against me.
Aside from occasionally deciding not to write (leaving me with a scrap sheet of paper with various test-scribbles on it -- but sometimes it wouldn't write even after a successful test-scribble), the pen is in collusion with my hands.
See, there is one person on my holiday card list who has, quite possibly, the neatest, most gorgeous handwriting ever. And I wanted to reciprocate, because when I put my mind to it, I can have nice handwriting. It doesn't generally last very long, but I can write neatly in short spurts.
So what happens when I go to write out her envelope?
I misspell.
And, of course, I don't have any SPARE envelopes, so I had to scratch out the misspell and try again. And the whole thing just looks awful. So, hallowd, please forgive the state of your envelope. ;)
I'm also one card short. *swears* I may have to run next door and see if Mom has any extras. She should. *sigh*
And I realize that the international cards will probably not make it till after the 25th, but at least they're going out, which is more than I can say for myself last year.
