So, uh.  Some people might know that my baaaaaaaaaaaaby cousin is getting married in October.  (Okay, so she's not really a baaaaaby. She's six years younger than I am.  BUT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABY COUSIN, so there.)

Anyway, I'm in the bridal party!  And the bridal party were given a number of dress styles to pick from, in a specific color ("Harvest Gold").  I chose a really pretty strapless A-line dress.  I had my measurements taken at a dress shop down here, and sent those measurements to my cousin, who ordered the dress from her shop.

The dress arrived today!  Huzzah!  It's pretty!  Double huzzah!

It. Fell off.

It.  The dress.  It.  It's.  It's too big.  Like, "I must have lost two inches in three months" too big.

WTF.

I called my mom to tell her the hilarity, and she was like, "Someone must have written down the wrong size or something."

GEE THANKS MOM.

The one time I ordered an honest to god bridesmaid's dress, the shop who took the measurements were nowhere near correct in the tailoring. I had to bring it to a local shop to get it re-tailored so that the bodice came anywhere close to fitting. I firmly believe that bridalwear shops are incompetent and have no idea how they keep marching inexorably onward.

Well, the last time I was a bridesmaid, I was... thirteen? Fourteen? So my experience with bridal shops is pretty limited.

Either way, I'm going to choose to believe I dropped some much needed weight. Because walking 2-3 miles with the dogs about four days a week and NOT seeing results? Would be damned depressing.

Also entirely likely. I've been practicing my pessimism and coaching my friend in looking on the dark side so I'm probably not the best judge.

Did you pay them for the measurements? If you didn't, it's possible they deliberately mis-measured so you'd have to bring the dress to them for alterations, them being close by and all. Of course, that's possible if you did pay too, but the spitefulness factor involved is a bit different.

My mom does sewing and alterations from home and has outfitted wedding parties and corrected many a "professional" oops in the past. Mistakes and deliberate foul ups happen quite frequently.

But you've said you've been being more active and eating better, right? People do tend to get smaller when that happens. ;)

I did pay for the measurements, and as far as I could tell, the woman was writing down the numbers I saw on the tape, but that doesn't mean anything. Hell, they could've even "translated" the measurements incorrectly when it came to picking a size.

But I have been a lot more active and more conscious of what I eat, so I am choosing to attribute the dress situation to that, because it does wonders for my mood. XD

*waves hi again* :D I've been retardedly absent!

Anyway, my baby cousin also got married 2 weeks ago...she's 9 years younger than me.

It's good, but it also makes me feel old and like I wanna throw a pity party. I feel like a loser at my unmarried-33. XD

HI HYANAN!

Yeah, I've been retardedly absent too. But I'm making progress and being less retarded, so yay for both of us!

I got married two years ago, and that was around when she annouced her engagement. So I felt a little behind the bell curve too, but then I reminded myself that George is made of awesome, and we've been together for fourteen years, and there's nothing to feel bad about there. And also I kind of don't like her fiance, shhh.

Wait. Did it look like I was complaining? Noooooooo,SO VERY MUCH NOT COMPLAINING.

I actually chose an A-line strapless because I knew I'd be walking the dogs a lot, and I wanted something that would be (a) easy and (b) cheap to take in if necessary. Now, I don't know if I HAVE lost two inches or not, but thinking that I did makes me incredibly happy. SO I'M GOING TO GO ON THINKING I DID. :D
