I have met the first game that I am actually looking FORWARD to playing again now that I've finished it.

Dragon Age: Origins.

Oh. My. God.

What did you love about? *She asks working her way through the New Super Mario Bro. Wii*

Well, I loved the story, first of all. And I loved the level of customization -- you can choose to be a human (and within that, either a noble, a rogue, or a mage), a dwarf (noble or commoner), or an elf (iirc your choices there are slave, noble, or rogue). You can customize the look of your character as well, which I am a total sucker for.

It's also very much a "choose your own adventure" type game. You make choices that lead you down different paths, and oftentimes those choices have repercussions down the road. There are a number of different possible endings for the game (one of the XBox achievements is "Perfectionist," which is what you get when you've played through ALL possible endings). You pick up companions along the way, and all of them are very different, and very interesting. They may turn on you or otherwise betray you, and they may not. You have so many options! I know that if I play the game through again, it may be the same in some parts, sure, but VERY DIFFERENT in others. I also stuck to the main storyline, opting not to do any side quests. When I play it again, I am so totally going to do the side quests.

I've heard that the PC version of the game has even higher levels of customization, and that the PS3 version has better, smoother artwork. But the XBox version suits me just fine -- the art is perhaps not as smooth as it could be, but it's also less glitchy, which I've read has been a problem with the PS3 version.

Also? ALSO. Tim Curry is one of the voice actors. Tim Curry, Claudia Black, Kate Mulgrew, AND MORE. So many voices I recognized! It was awesome. :D (Also, the voice acting itself is pretty awesome.)

Oh, really? Do tell. Was considering whether I wanted to break out of my "I only watch Hubby play because I suck" rut and get this one because it looked really pretty and the premise intrigued me.

The premise is what sucked me in as well -- that, and the level of customization available. In many ways it reminded me of Fable 2, which I also loved, but it was more serious where Fable 2 was sometimes a little over the top in its goofiness. Take a look at what I told Emmy in her reply above -- pretty much sums up all of what I loved about this game. I'm already planning to play it again, considering different paths to take, and different decisions, and basically -- aside from the boss battles -- have a totally different experience with the next go-round than with this one.

*reads comment to Emy* Hmmmm. Maybe this will find its way onto my Christmas list after all. It sounds like an awesome game. Will definitely have to look into it more.

There are also several options in the game if you want your character to pursue a romance with one of his/her companions. I developed a total fangirl crush on one of them. XD
