Aug. 28th, 2006 10:32 amI want whoever who reads this to ask me 4 questions. Any 4, no matter how dirty or random. I have to answer them honestly. In turn, you have to (or not, I'm easy) post this message in your own journal, and you have to answer the questions that are asked of you.
And, yes, I know I haven't done the testimonial meme. I haven't forgotten. ;)

1) Reply to this if you want me to tell you how cool you are!
2) Watch my journal for a few days for a post just about you and why you rock my socks.
3) Post these instructions in your journal and give your friends a much needed dose of love and adoration!
Meme, meme, meme-ity meme...
Jun. 28th, 2006 01:31 pm![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.
It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.
Meme time!

Why am I on your friends' list?
Then post this to your journal to see what people have to say about you.
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Take a look at your LJ friends list, then list up to 10 things you want to say to 10 different friends.
DO NOT state who these people are.
DO NOT confirm or deny any "comment speculation."

Aaaaand, hmm. You know, it's been a while since I've done a drabble meme. I think it's time to do one. I did this one a long while back, and actually went looking for the results today, so it's fresh in my mind:
Name a pairing or character (that I'm familiar with, in a fandom I'm familiar with) and I will write one line of a story for it.
Fandoms I'm willing to write in:
BtVS
AtS
Inuyasha
Furuba
Samurai Champloo
D. Sayers
Aaaaaannnnnnd...... hmmm.... oh, what the hell -- let's make this challenging, eh?:
Good Omens (though I really think I shouldn't try anyone other than Crowley or Aziraphale)
Sandman
Pride and Prejudice
I do reserve the right to write MORE than one sentence, should the whim take me. ;)
Meme and jobstuff
Apr. 30th, 2006 08:48 amFirst impressions can either be very right or very wrong. Sometimes our ideas of a person influence what we expect them to be, and when we finally talk to them, we realize they aren't what we thought - for better or worse. What were your first impressions of me? Have they changed since we've gotten to know each other better? How?
And now the... hrm.
There is this one private high school -- a boarding school, actually -- that I have been dying to teach for. Like, dying. And at least once a month I check their employment page, and for three years, they have not needed an English teacher. This morning I checked, just out of idle curiosity, and saw that they're advertising for a position --
...seeking a one-year, sabbatical replacement English teacher to begin in August 2006. MA preferred but not required. Teaching experience preferred. Usual responsibilities of full-time faculty at a boarding school may apply (dorm duty, advisory duty, afternoon activity, or coaching duty).
The salary offered will include a full benefits package (in the case of full-time employment) and will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
Three years I've been watching this school. Three. Years.
The only problem? Well, there's two:
1.) The school is in Alexandria, Virginia. And Tora-kun has a job here. And moving is expensive. Hell, Alexandria's expensive.
2.) It's a one-year position, but the rest of the listing implies that a full-time position is possible, but not guaranteed.
I'm tempted to send me resume in just to see what happens. Probably nothing, since no one likes to take a risk on someone who has to relocate.
*sigh*
Three years.

Apr. 25th, 2006 11:16 am You scored as English. You should be an English major! Your passion lies in writing and expressing yourself creatively, and you hate it when you are inhibited from doing so. Pursue that interest of yours!

1. I have a tattoo on my ankle that I designed myself. (And I'll post pictures someday. Someday, I say!)
2. When I was little, I used to have three-way conversations with imaginary friends. My mother wanted to take me to a psychologist. ;)
3. I have to be very careful when I drink alcohol, because I have an adverse reaction to certain liquors (Cointreau and Malibu Coconut Rum so far, but not Triple Sec, so that kills the "fruit flavored liquors" theory). I break out into a sweat and my heart pounds so hard that I feel it throughout my whole body. Generally, when I'm out, I'll stick to beer, wine, or a Bombay Sapphire and tonic.
4. I started going grey at age 17.
5. During the summer of 1999, I participated in a summer seminar program at Trinity College, Oxford. It's where my love of gothic literature turned into an obsession.
6. I have shot a gun. Actually, I have shot a police-issue Glock (under the supervision of my deputy sheriff uncle). His exact words after my lesson? "Remind me never to piss you off." Bunneh ish dangerous! XD
And who do I tag? Let me seeeeeeeeeeeee....

A meme and other stuff
Apr. 7th, 2006 08:17 amUp too early. Am sleepy. And kind of hungry. And... *yawn* I have to go grocery shopping. I'd really like to try and get past the current UT writer's block, though. That would make me really happy.
Not much going on -- Darwin's last puppyclass is next week, and they're doing a little "graduation" thing which promises to kill me of cute, and I will be taking my camera
A couple of my fics were nominated for a Furuba fic contest -- "Perchance to Dream" and "Justification for a Lie," but not "Bump," because it's for finished fics only. Ah well, it was a nice surprise and I'm really quite flattered, as both of those fics were pretty short and got written really quickly. So it was fun to find that in my inbox. Don't really expect either of them to win anything (probably because I wrote them so quickly), but I'm still happy and flattered. :)
( Darwin stuff behind the cut... )
We finally saw the Wallace & Grommit movie -- oh my god. LOVED IT. And, okay, yes, part of the love was for all the bunnies, STFU. And Grommit just... wins. At everything. Especially giant-bunny drag.
Hokay -- I have to hunt down something to eat. *stretches* (And I'd also like to figure out my recent WTF infatuation with country music. I used to listen to the local country station pretty regularly when I was commuting to Orlando, but stopped. And lately I seem to be rediscovering it. And maybe I'm just a big dork, but "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk" holygod cracks my shit up. It does make good background noise, though, and not too terribly distracting.)

Literary: | Fanfiction. | Seriously, any fandom. English majors (current and former) read fanfiction -- they just won't ADMIT to it to each other. There needs to be a support group for us. |
Audiovisual: | Aqua Teen Hunger Force | The times when they're unfunny are so blown away by the times when they ARE. |
Musical: | Bubblegum Pop music | Dude, I can't explain it. "Oops I Did it Again" and "As Long As You Love Me" make me wiggle in a fun way. |
Celebrity: | Celebrity Chefs | I've got such a wild crush on Tyler Florence, you don't even KNOW. And I love Food TV. I live and die by Alton Brown's "City Ham" and his recipe for roasted turkey, and Gordon Ramsay is just TEH AWESOME. |

Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission, should they choose to accept it, to write you an in-character note from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!
Okay, let's see...
Let's try the tough ones first:
Fitzwilliam Darcy
Elizabeth Bennet (or, hey, any of the Bennet sisters)
Lord Peter Death Bredon Wimsey
Any of the Endless
Dr. Greg House
Okay, now for the easier ones ;) --
Anyone from Fruits Basket, save Akito, because ... batshit insane. (No, really: anyone. I love all of the characters.)
Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, or Sesshoumaru (and even though she's not even remotely canon, getting a message from Teles would crack my shit up)
Jin, Mugen, or Fuu, from Samurai Champloo
Buffy or ANY of the Scoobies (Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Angel, Giles, Oz, or even Spike)
Chloe Sullivan, because she rocks my socks
Crowley or Aziraphale, from Good Omens
Annnnd... what the hell: Fox Mulder, for old times sake. (You never forget your first. ;))
....Wow, that's... a very strange combination, there. Huh.

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
Proper post later. Not much going on lately, but ... *is distracted by teh s00per kyoot Bronte antics*
...
Anyway. Right. Not much going on lately, but somehow I feel uber-busy. I don't understand why that is. Going to try and get some more stuff done.

In other meme related things, I'm thinking about doing the holiday wish-list meme again this year. I managed to fulfill three wishes on other people's lists, so I encourage the folks on my f-list to do it again this year as well. Finances might be a little tight for us (hard to tell this early), but I'm still determined to do SOMETHING for the folks special to me. So do the meme and give me ideas. :D
